What do you teach and what to expect?
I’ve always been a little uncomfortable with calling myself a “teacher,” which is a little weird since I’ve been an educator in schools since 1995 (and a yoga instructor since 2008). The current title I use for myself is the Coordinator for the Center of Awesomeness (aka Librarian) which mostly means that while I know I don’t have all the answers I do work hard to cultivate all the curiosity and fun!
YogA- a youth-focused class that incorporates movement, mindfulness, and MUSIC!
I’ve also been known to teach meditation, mindfulness, arm balance workshops, FUNdamental flow classes, and yoga for athletes (cycling, football, soccer).
How did you end up in the Flathead Valley?
As a Washington native, I first came to the Big on a snowboarding trip in 1998. Sitting on the hill, sore and smiling and watching the furniture races, I had an epiphany- I could choose a place I wanted to live rather than just live where I happened to have a job. Of course it turns out a job-that-pays-bills is kind of important to living here full time. But 20 years, and many adventures (spanning five of the seven continents), later here I am. Definitely worth it!
Where would we see you outside of LOVE?
From September to June- what free time? As an educator you can find me most days in the middle school library but after school I’m out in the woods with my adorable mini-Aussie Confetti, sliding down a hill on a bike, board, or (sometimes) my bootie, hiking, climbing, swimming, floating, or doing other fun stuff- solo or with friends- outside.
Surprising fun fact about you?
I got my PADI cert, RYA Competent Crew sailing cert, and completed my first YTT in the same summer while livin’ down unda in Byron Bay.
