Join LOVE's Holly Purdy and Amanda Person for an end-of-the-year retreat in Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic.

Co-Curated with love by Melissa Gonzalez

We’re so excited that you’re interested in learning about this incredibly special, one of a kind, carefully curated retreat, cultural immersion, and travel adventure. This is not just a retreat on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It is SO much more!

This retreat was born out of a kaleidoscope of passion for travel, yoga, and community! Holly’s love for travel and yoga, met with Melissa’s enthusiasm and genuine love for Las Terrenas (where she lived with her husband and kids before moving to Flathead), with Amanda’s zest for fun, barre, and building community.

This dream team has created a thoughtfully planned retreat adventure that includes options for cultural immersion, adventure, yoga, barre, volunteerism, and the chance to to integrate with another place in the name of love and community.

Read on to immerse yourself into the moment to moment experience of what our time together will be like.

MEET YOUR RETREAT TEAM

Holly Purdy

500hr- ERYT, Master of Education, Barre Teacher, Retreat Leader, Lover of Travel

Hello, loves and ladies!

I have witnessed this retreat take on life and it has been a labor of love! I feel so grateful for this retreat team and can't wait to see who decides to dive in with us.

Leading retreats is sacred to me, and is something I always envisioned myself doing when I began dreaming of it so many years ago. I’ve always had an itch for travel, as there is such value and personal growth to be gained from seeing new people, places, and cultures. Throw in daily yoga, barre, and the best company and food and it just takes it up another notch!

I’ve attended six retreats and led two, so I’ve seen first-hand the magic of it. This will be my third international retreat that I have led. I love weaving retreats and witnessing what happens during the span of a week together- there is NOTHING like it. We come together as we are, and leave completely different- the transformation is palpable.

My intention for this retreat is to hold space for women to come together and experience an exciting (and relaxing) retreat and travel experience. Ladies, let’s immerse into the healing power of yoga, get strong and have fun with barre, and let ourselves go into the beauty of the BEACH, travel, culture, and the best community. I want this to be what it needs to be for you, and I am here to hold space for it all.

Amanda Person

Barre Teacher and Fun Facilitator

Hey Ladies, I am so honored to co-lead this retreat! I'm Mand and have been teaching fitness for 15+ years and have never led a retreat…..just anticipating co-leading this retreat has my heart crazy full!! My intention is to deliver you booty burning BEACH workouts with a focus in BARRE & PILATES based movement! I love the PILATES ab series with the BARRE booty and leg work! I will provide balls and bands for extra spice.

Can't wait to move, play mermaids and cannon ball into a giant pool with YOU!! Xoxo See YOU at the BEACH, BABES.

Melissa and Alex Gonzalez

Melissa came to Holly last year and said that she wanted to help create an immersive retreat experience in this place (Las Terrenas) that is so near and dear to her heart. After getting to know Melissa (and Alex) through their attendance at both studios, and seeing their dedication to travel and family, it seemed like a no-brainer! And here we are. Melissa lived and taught yoga in Las Terrenas, built so many community connections, and came to have this place as a part of her soul. She has put all her love and ideas into this retreat schedule. Meet her here!

Hi, I’m Melissa! My husband and I made the decision to move to Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic in 2021 so our son would have the opportunity to not just learn about his culture but also to be immersed in it. I am grateful for the time my family and I spent being a part of such a beautiful and electrifying island nation. I am truly honored that Holly has chosen this piece of paradise as Love Yoga’s 2024 retreat. I look forward to sharing it with you all.

You can catch Melissa at both studios practicing yoga and barre and all of our classes! She also has a leading presence in the Whitefish Lake post-yoga-class Cold Plunge Movement! You can find her on Instagram at @noahs_nomadic_namaste

RETREAT DETAILS

  • The cost includes all yoga and barre classes, a waterfall excursion, trips to town, accommodation of your choosing, meals, non alcoholic beverages, transportation to and from the airport in Santo Domingo.

  • Each morning, we rise with the sun, in dedicated morning silence, to a banquet offresh coffee, tea, fruit, walks on the beach, and time to just BE with self. That sweetness will segue into morning yoga practice with Holly.

After morning practice, our priority is to give you options for space for YOU time as well as opportunities to adventure out and be active. Our villa exists on an endless stretch of white sand with snorkeling and beach activities steps from our door, so if you’re craving some activity, it’s yours for the taking. Our days will be filled with opportunities for activities, but nothing is required, and ultimately you get to decide what you need. This retreat is all about YOU.

Amanda will offer “barreless barre” on the beach at various times during the day to bring the group together in joy, fun, and strength.

For a more detailed schedule click here.

  • Our in-house private chef will create freshly prepared and healthy Caribbean style meals, fresh salads, fruit, and smoothies everyday. Three meals and two snacks provided daily.

  • Yes! We can accommodate gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian meal preferences. Upon registration, you’ll be prompted to include your dietary preferences so we can best serve you. Our in-house private chef will create freshly prepared and healthy Caribbean-style meals, fresh salads, fruit, and smoothies every day. Three meals and two snacks are provided daily.

  • We coordinate transportation from the airport to the retreat lodging on arrival and departure dates. We will provide more details as the retreat approaches. Please note that airfare is not covered.

  • If you plan to fly from the Flathead/Montana area, we recommend arriving in NYC, Fort Lauderdale or Miami on the night of November 29. We have found that getting a one-way ticket from Kalispell to Miami/New York is under $300 and around 7 hours. Ideally, you can have a travel buddy, and if you’d like to save costs, then you can plan to book a hotel room on the eve of the 29th with a friend.

Then, book another one-way ticket for the morning of November 30 from wherever you stayed to Santo Dominigo. Plan to arrive by no later than 1pm to SD on November 30. Upon arrival in Santo Domingo, we have three privately booked van transfers available throughout the afternoon. In case of flight delays
or if you arrive at a different time or day, we will arrange a private van for you, though an additional charge of up to $100 for one-way transfer may apply. The drive from SD to LT is around 2.5 hours and will stop for one hour at a secluded waterfall to give you time to start grounding yourself into the beauty of the area.

Once your flights are booked, please email us your full names, arrival and departure flight schedules, times, and flight numbers so that we can arrange your shuttle to and from Santo Domingo.

Have more questions about transport and flights? Our cultural advisor and co-curator of this retreat, Melissa Gonzalez, has taken this journey from Montana to Las Terrenas and knows the ins and outs of it quite well. If you’d like to speak with her directly about it, please contact her at gonzalezmelissa09@gmail.com

  • Our retreat time together will ceremonially close on the evening of Dec 6, and then we plan to have everyone depart from Las Terrenas on the morning of December 7, no later than 10am. We will have three private van transfers to get you safely back to the Santo Domingo airport. We suggest that you book a
one-way flight from Santo Domingo to either Miami or NYC for the afternoon of Dec 7. Then, plan to stay the night in whichever destination you choose. Your
final flight will be for Dec 8, another one-way flight from wherever you chose to stay, back to your home place.

  • You will fly into Santo Domingo (SDQ) Airport Code

  • We get it – life happens. We highly encourage purchasing trip insurance in case you are unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances. Travel insurance covers flights and retreat costs if you need to cancel your trip. We recommend Hancock Travel Cancel for Any Reason Insurance. For a $5000 total cost (flights and retreat payments), the insurance costs about $225.

  • There is a non-refundable $500 deposit upon registering. We strongly suggest the purchase of travel insurance to cover any unforeseen circumstances where you are unable to attend. Refunds will only be given (less a $500 deposit and any fees we cannot recover) IF we are able to fill your space on the retreat. Purchase the travel insurance, friend…. it’s worth it for a sense of ease.

  • Do I need a passport?

    YES.

Do I need to bring Cash?

Most places in Las Terrenas take credit cards. However, we suggest that you bring $250 or so USD in cash for extras. This will be things like jewelry, coconuts, snacks, and alcoholic beverages if you desire. Dominican Pesos are the national currency, but if you bring USD you can easily trade that in for pesos at a nearby bank. We do not suggest bringing an ATM card, due to high bank fees.

Do I need to bring my own yoga mat?

YES! We suggest purchasing a travel yoga mat. We will have LOVE branded travel mats for sale soon at our studio.

What is the climate of the Dominican Republic in December?

According to Google, the average high/low temperature in Las Terrenas in December is 82/69. We're not sad about it!

    What should I pack?

    • Apparel for a beach destination

    • Old sneakers/ Tevas or shoes for the waterfall hike that you can get very muddy

    • Light jacket/sweatshirt for airplane travel and for any cooler temps we may experience

    • Swimsuits

    • Yoga Travel Mat

    Are there grocery stores?

Yes! It’s not too remote that if you forget something, you could find it in a local store.

PICTURE THIS...

Our beautiful time together begins on November 30 when we fly into Santo Domingo, the capital city of Dominican Republic, where we gather into private vans for transfer to Las Terrenas. Our drivers will stop at a breathtaking and secluded waterfall on the way to our final destination of Las Terrenas, known for its stunning white sand beaches, blue green water, and European/Caribbean flair.

We arrive on the evening of November 30 to our lovely 14 room villa, and take the remainder of the evening to land, ground ourselves, and take in the place we’ll call home for the week.

Each morning, we rise with the sun, in dedicated morning silence, to a banquet of fresh coffee, tea, fruit, walks on the beach, and time to just BE with self. That sweetness will segue into morning yoga practice with Holly.
