January LOVE Letter

We made it through 2024! What a year of growth and changes it was. I’ve said it probably thousands of times this year- what would I do without yoga? It has gotten me where I am in every sense. Yoga teaches us how to lean into clarity, compassion, and resilience, which are so needed for the everyday conflict resolutions and our bigger periods of growth and transformation.

Another thing I love so much about yoga is that it is a practice for EVERYONE- not just the strong, young, and flexible- because it is a practice for ANYONE willing to put in an honest effort. It is a practice not just of calming the mind, but of being with the turbulence of the mind (and of life). When we can STAY in it without bouncing or numbing out, then we can learn about ourselves and train our minds away from the usual patterns of reactivity, judgment, grasping, and aversion. Ultimately, when we start doing this regularly, some of the side effects are peace, understanding, and new neural pathways. We get small gains and encouragement when we witness ourselves not spinning out so hard, not jumping into old habits of being and thinking, and when we start to see ourselves and others in a new light.

Getting our bodies strong and resilient is a big part of that too. When our bodies are healthy and strong, then our minds can be too. In fact, according to the 8 Limbed Path of Yoga, the poses and physical practice of yoga are done so that we can tend to our minds. Once we feel strong and stable in body, we can then sit and be with ourselves, to get strong and stable in the mind.

So- Whether you've got years of experience with yoga and movement, or you’re just starting your journey, the practices are here for you! This practice is open to you if you're ready to commit to growing and transforming on the inside as well as the outside. There’s no time like the beginning of a new year to jump in and commit to something new.

So, we invite you to drop the excuses and unhelpful narratives, and make a commitment to yourself and your health this January. You don’t need to commit to perfection, but to showing up consistently! It’s all about the journey- and we’re here for you in that.

Love,

Holly
